Fuel-cell design & fabrication
I designed, simulated, and optimized a hydrogen fuel cell, then worked with component suppliers and developed in-house procedures and facilities to produce an engine-sized prototype.
Further current-work details and photographs to come.

Skills Developed
LabView
I programmed external heaters and an oxygen sensor, filtered noisy measurements, and added a safety-mode interlock to the LabVIEW test software.
Wiring and Plumbing
I wired power distribution, relays, CAN connections, and instrumentation, and plumbed test equipment using several connector and fitting types.
Documentation
I created bills of materials, wiring diagrams, instructions, and checklists, including documentation for previously undocumented equipment.
Projects
New 20 Cell Cart
Power Distribution Unit
I sourced, purchased, assembled, and wired the distribution unit, working around component lead times and the project budget.
8020 Frame
I planned, sourced, and assembled the frame and prepared its bill of materials, balancing cost, lead times, and assembly work.
Hydrogen Safety System
I sourced, built, wired, and tested a system connecting emergency stops, sensors, a shutoff valve, and an alarm. I also made a holder for the manual-valve keys.
Load Bank Cart
I designed, sourced, built, wired, and tested a cooling loop for a 12 kW load bank, including its radiator, shroud, fans, and pump.
Anti-smell plug
I made a printed adapter and trap loop for a shop-machine drain.
Safety Tag System
I introduced visible orange flags for components and temporary jumpers that needed to be removed before particular test operations.
5 Cell Test Cart Improvements
Oxygen Sensor
I integrated an oxygen sensor into the plumbing, wiring, and LabVIEW software to measure oxygen at the cell inlet or exhaust.
Hydrogen Sensor
I designed, modeled, programmed, and machined an adapter block so the hydrogen sensor could connect to SAE fittings on the test cart.
Heater
I plumbed in an additional heater and a deionized-water refill valve.
Feet
I made nonconductive supports for the fuel cell.
Insulating Jacket
I made an insulating jacket to retain heat and help keep the temperature even through the stack.
Workbenches
I built shop workbenches using plans found online.
Crates for Carts
I fabricated protective plywood enclosures so two test carts could be shipped to customers.
